Camis Smith
Camis is a Banjima man from the Pilbara where his family ran a station contracting business. Camis is a qualified secondary teacher and mechanic. He began his career in education working across WA and the Northern Territory. In 1994 he led the Pundulmurra College trades training team and in 1997 became the Director of Aboriginal Policy and Services for the WA Ministry of Justice. Camis joined Hamersley Iron in Dampier as a Community Development officer in 2000 and was promoted through a series of roles to Manager of Aboriginal Employment Strategy between 2005 and 2010. In 2010 Camis moved to Chevron to manage Aboriginal employment and worked at Chevron before joining Keogh Bay in 2020.
Camis has long experience in community engagement, Indigenous employment strategy, Indigenous training program development and government. Camis is fluent in Banjima and has strong family, professional and cultural links across the Pilbara region. Camis delivers our Working with Indigenous Employees training and a range of tailored training programs across the resources industry. He is also part of our consulting team working on complex assignments across Australia.
